The Big Conversation

The Big Conversation

The meeting was well attended both by Primary, Secondary Care and Place Based commissioning colleagues. It was great to see a variety of consultants from secondary care specialties – Urology, A+E, Palliative Care, Geriatrics, Paediatrics, General Practitioners, Practice Managers, Board Directors from MBPCC, LMC colleagues, Clinical and Care Professional Leads and the place-based commissioning team.

The meeting is conducted in a hybrid format – with both online and in-person attendees maximising the opportunities for people to contribute and join the discussion.

Several important topics were discussed:

Neighbourhood Health Implementation Plans over the next year, which generated some good discussion about the proposed plans.

2. Pears Medical School Placements in Primary and Secondary Care to improve training opportunities to ‘grow our own’ medical workforce for the future.

3. Update on Gynaecological Cancer Pathways and how this would work across primary and secondary care.

4. Updates on some examples of good primary and secondary care joint working – delivering increased Direct Access to Radiology Imaging, Community Diagnostic Centres – jointly delivered by MBPCC and UHMBT to increase access to diagnostics for Morecambe Bay Communities.

5. Escape the Tape – Myth-busting session on what can be done in Primary and Secondary Care to enhance better understanding and working between Primary and Secondary Care Colleagues.

There was a packed agenda, but there were still lots of great networking opportunities and conversations between professionals. Helping to foster important relationships across different organisations - setting the scene for an exciting future of joint working opportunities.

The next meeting will commence in a few months' time, and the team are already looking forward to the next 'Big Conversation'.
